Does your body need some more vitamin B? Prague Festival of Czech Beer is the best supply. You will taste all kinds of different Czech brands of beer while listening to the traditional music that will make you feel like if you were local. The festival is held at the Letna plain in one of the most beautiful Prague parks overlooking the Old Town. It is an amazing spot for a romantic picnic or just chilling out with your friends. To have even more of beer experience, rent a bike or prosecco bike and go for a ride around the park and finish your beer day at one of the best bars in Prague such as our Be Bop Lobby Bar. Do your prefer rum over beer? Zlute Lazne Recreational Area in Prague invites people for Rum Festival on 18th of May. There is also a Prosecco Festival at Villa Richter on the same day.
May 15th Feast of Jan Nepomuk, Navalis or Sant John’s Festival, is a 300 year-old festival and the largest Baroque festival on water in the world which happens only once a year and should not be missed when you are in Prague.
Czech national holidays in May are 1st of May (Labor Day) and 8th of May (Liberation Day) when the Czech Senate and the Czech Parliament will be open to the public between 9am and 4pm. May 20th – 21st is Jewish Holiday of Shavuot.
Combining sightseeing with culinary experience? May is the best month to do so as the Prague Food festival takes place in the Royal Garden of the Prague Castle which is only 30 minutes by walk from our 5star hotel. The best restaurants in Prague including our La Rotonde restaurant open their outdoor dining areas. Few of them offer terraces with the stunning views and you can feast your eyes on the most beautiful historical sites of Prague. Vegans can enjoy Veggie/Vegan Day at Naplavka Street Market on the 1st of May.
If you are more into music than beer and food, May is also the month of music. One of the most well-known festivals of classical music, the Prague Spring, starts from the 12th of May and lasts until the 3rd of June. Rudolfinum Concert Hall, the Municipal House and many other churches in Prague will be hosting musicians and singers from all around the world who will be performing classical as well as modern pieces. We can still arrange tickets for these concerts, but hurry up, as they get sold our very quickly.
When speaking about music, the famous Mezi Ploty festival is a very special event combining music and theatre in unique settings of premises of the psychiatric hospital Bohnice. Another interesting festival Khamoro World Roma is a colorful event held in various venues in Prague between 26th of May and 1st of June. The festival preserves the culture of the gipsy and their energetic music and dance will definitely make you move. On the 17th and 18th of May Alexandrov Ensemble Choir famous as Red Army Choir will be performing its choir, dance and acrobatics at the Tip Sport Arena. On the 29th of May you can visit Cirque de Soleil at the Prague O2 Arena and on the 30th of May the open air folklore dancing called Prague Heart of Nations on the Old Town Square and Wenceslas Square which is only few steps from our hotel.
For our guests who like to be active and prefer to have some exercise during their holidays, ask our concierge about the Alcron run for our guests. However, if you prefer a real challenge, go for the full 42 km version of the Volkswagen Prague Marathon on the 5th of May starting at the Old Town Square or choose one of their family runs. Consequently, be aware of major disruption in the Old Town and limited access to the Old Town Square and Charles Bridge in the morning. Until May 5th. J&T Bank Tennis tournament free-to-air clay court games are held in Stromovka Park.
