This month may be one of the coldest but the most magical months of the year. Do not worry about the sunshine, as the Christmas spirit and smiles around you will dazzle the city more than any sunshine can do. Prague in winter is stunning and staying in the romantic Alcron Hotel will enhance the unforgettable experience.
CELEBRATE WINTER WITH ICE-SKATING
There is no better way of keeping yourself warm than ice-skating at the open-air rink in the Old Town at Ovocný trh. Another beautiful outdoor ice-skating rink with a separate area for kids is at Letná park. If you wish to ice-skate under the lights of the tallest structure in Prague, then you will surely enjoy the rink below Žižkov TV tower.
WATCH OUT FOR DEVILS IN PRAGUE STREETS
December 6th is Saint Nicholas Day, so do not be surprised if you come across groups of people wearing costumes of Saint Nicholas, devils, and angels on the evening of December 5th. Their mission is to visit kids, and in exchange for sweets or treats, each child must read a poem or sing a song.
HAVE YOU EVER MET A LAMPLIGHTER?
If you are around Charles Bridge at 4 pm, there is a high chance that you will see a lamplighter wearing old costume lighting historical gas lamps with the burning wick on a long rod. You can continue with him to the Lesser Town, and he will happily talk to you about this old pre-advent tradition.
CHRISTMAS MARKETS ARE EVERYWHERE
The only way to escape the Christmas markets would be by not leaving the hotel. And even that we would manage to make special for you at our beautiful Alcron Hotel! As much as we would love to have you with us 24/7, you should not miss the experience of strolling through the markets, tasting grilled sausages, rolled cinnamon pastry called Trdlo, and warm mulled wine. The largest Christmas Market takes place at the Old Town square, where you will also find the majestic Christmas tree with a nativity scene and live animals. Other Markets can be found at the Wenceslas square, right next to our Alcron Hotel located in the city center. For a more relaxed and local feel, visit smaller Christmas markets at Náměstí Míru, easily accessible by metro or walk from our popular Hotel.
SPEND THE LAST DAYS OF THIS YEAR IN 5 STAR STYLE
