September days are here with summer’s best weather and autumn’s best cheer. As this saying from Helen Hunt suggests, while autumn is on its way, you will have a blast spending your time outdoors and revel in the refreshing warmth of the city after the humidifying heat of August. Prague is just after the peak tourist season so you can experience the beautiful city in a relaxed mood. Do not worry, even in September Prague comes alive.


On the 28th Czechs celebrate Czech Statehood Day commemorating St. Wenceslas. You will find the most famous statue of this patron of the Czech Republic at the top of Wenceslas Square and only a few steps from our 5-star Alcron Hotel. In passage Lucerna, right across the street from our historical Alcron Hotel, there is another statue of this Good King; the provoking upside-down figure of Wenceslas riding a horse. To celebrate both the Czech patron and also the grape harvest season, you can visit the fun St. Wenceslas Wine Festival which is held on the 24th at St. Wenceslas Vineyard on the grounds of Villa Richter.


September is the last of the warm months and also the last call to enjoy the sun with a glass of early wine. You can do so at the Harvest Feast at Letenska plan on the 3rd and enjoy the rich degustation of Czech and Moravian wines. On the same day and very nearby you will find the famous vineyard of Villa Richter where you can join the Prosecco Festival dedicated to Italian wine and food. On the 9th, the Vinohrady Wine Festival held at Namesti Jiriho z Poděbrad is inspired by the period of the Austro – Hungarian monarchy and is attended by winemakers from all over Central Europe. The weekend of 10th and 11th celebrates grape harvest right in the Royal Garden at Prague Castle. The very next weekend, Grape Harvest Festival in the vast Botanical Garden entices visitors to taste the best products of the best winemakers. Have you had enough of wine and do you fancy some good food instead? Visit the popular Burgerfest on the 2nd at the Exhibition Center where Prague restaurants compete to prepare the best burger. The Far & Near East festival brings the Asian atmosphere and authentic cuisine to Prague Central Park also on the 2nd. Veggie lovers should not miss the largest vegan event held in Naplavka on the 11th. You can easily walk there in 15 minutes from our Alcron Hotel located in the heart of the city center.


Do you like motorcycles? You have a unique opportunity to see thousands at Prague Harley Days full of bike riding, music, and entertainment at the Exhibition Center from the 2nd until the 4th. Already 20 years have passed since our country experienced damaging floods. The photographic exhibition reminding of what happened takes place from 9th until 22nd at Kampa which was one of the most heavily affected locations. On the weekend of the 17th and 18th, you can remind yourself of another important event from the past, The battle of Bila Hora, by watching hundreds of soldiers and horse riders commemorating the battle of thirty Years’ War at Obora Hvezda. English-speaking visitors of Prague will surely appreciate the Prague Fringe festival which is the biggest English-speaking theatre venue in the Czech Republic staged at small theatres in the Lesser Town from the 26th until the 1st of October.
